Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

This policy explains what information JapanBenri (japanbenri.com), run by the JapanBenri team, collects when you use the site, and the choices you have.

What you type into our tools

Everything you enter into our tools (the text you paste into the furigana converter, the receipts in the tax-free wallet, your trip dates and choices in the trip planner, and the cards in your show-to-staff deck) is processed by JavaScript in your own browser. It is not sent to us or stored on our servers, and no account is needed. To keep your work between visits, the tools save it in your browser’s local storage on your device. You can remove it with the tools’ Clear or Reset buttons, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) handles technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies and does not track you across websites.

Advertising and cookies

We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this and other sites.

  • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.
  • Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we show a consent message (provided by a Google-certified consent platform) before personalised ads or cookies that need your consent are used. You can change your choice at any time with the privacy link that appears at the bottom of the page.

Other ad partners we may work with in the future will be listed here before we use them.

Some pages may contain affiliate links, for example to eSIM, tour or luggage storage sellers. We may get these links through affiliate networks such as Travelpayouts, or directly from a seller’s own programme. Affiliate links we add ourselves appear only in a box labelled “Recommended” with a disclosure note, and are marked rel="sponsored". See our affiliate disclosure for how this works and what it never influences.

  • Travelpayouts Drive script. Our guides, index and information pages (not our tools) load a small script from Travelpayouts (emrldtp.com). It loads asynchronously after the page, verifies our site with Travelpayouts, sends Travelpayouts a copy of the page’s content so it can find mentions of partner brands, and may turn links to partner brands into affiliate links or show partner offers. It may store identifiers in your browser’s local storage. It is never loaded on our tool pages (the trip planner, show-to-staff cards, furigana converter and tax-free wallet), so nothing you type or save in a tool is ever visible to it.
  • After you click, you may pass through the network’s redirect (for Travelpayouts, a tracking domain such as tp.media) to the seller. The network and the seller may set cookies or similar identifiers on their own websites so they can credit a purchase to us, under their own privacy policies (see Travelpayouts’ privacy policy).
  • What we see is aggregate reporting, such as the number of clicks, bookings and commissions. We do not receive your name, contact or payment details, and what you type into our tools is never shared with partners.
  • You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings. Doing so does not affect our tools.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information, or California privacy law), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to some uses of it. We do not sell personal information. Since we do not store what you type into our tools, there is usually nothing about you on our side. For requests, use the address on our contact page once it is published (it is coming soon).

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, for example by adding an ad or affiliate partner, we will update this page and the “last updated” date.
